| One of the latest additions
to the agenda family is Matobo Agenda which
was launched in September 2007. Nestled
in the beautiful and scenic hills of one
of Zimbabwe’s historic locations,
Matopo, is a people who have deep scars
of the past, yet an undeniable pride in
being Zimbabweans. The people of Matobo
have long longed for a platform through
which they could address their leaders about
their day to day trials and joys. The launch
of Matobo Agenda was one of the most successful
and rewarding activities that Bulawayo Agenda
as a whole has carried out. More than 700
villagers, of all ages and ideologies met
a humble and traditional manner, under some
trees to welcome the platform of debate
and dialogue. The people of Matobo have
a lot to say and will definitely take full
advantage of the public debate sessions. |

| Tsholotsho, a remote but
well known district, opened its doors to
Bulawayo Agenda in September 2007. The people
of Tsholotsho are well known for standing
firm on their convictions and the platform
for debate and dialogue has roused great
desire in the people of Tsholotsho to remain
even more so now as the 2008 elections draw
nearer. The greatest desire of the People
of Tsholotsho is to have their leaders being
accountable to their constituencies, and
coming clean with the people who put them
into power. Most remarkable about Tsholotsho
is the participation of women in the public
dialogue meetings. The women of Tsholotsho
have sampled and appreciate the fruits of
involvement in building stronger communities
and have said that as long as the platform
for dialogue is available, they shall speak
without fear. |

| Victoria
Falls is a resort city, whose central economic
activity is tourism. This city has a population
of approximately three million people, most of
whom are informal traders (vendors, sculptors
and forex dealers). There are very few civic society
organisations in this area and civic activities
have been very limited, largely due to the fact
that tourism is the main activity of the town.
Politically, the area is largely an opposition
party domain but is relatively calm with minimal
incidents of violence. The main priority for the
residents of Victoria Falls is to create a hospitable
atmosphere through efficient overall service delivery
for the mutual benefit of locals and visitors. |
| It is
in this geopolitical context that Victoria Falls
Agenda, a chapter of Bulawayo Agenda, was established
in May 2007. |
| The
activities carried out by the chapter include:- |
- Public debate meetings
- Focus group conversations
- Local governance capacity
